North Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Optimizes Flood Handling in Two Locations

The North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency continues to handle flooding in two locations on Jalan RE Martadinata, precisely near the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and the Sunter Reservoir Sluice Gate, North Jakarta.

Deni Tri Hendarto, Executing Unit Head of Tanjung Priok Sub-district SDA said, the flood caused by the tidal wave from Ancol to Tanjung Priok, Papanggo Urban Village reached 10-15 centimeters. Similar condition was also spotted at the Sunter Reservoir Sluice Gate, Sunter Jaya Urban Village.

"To handle it, we send two pumps and ten personnel to each location," he expressed, Monday (11/8).

He explained, it occurred as the road surface was lower than the water channel, so the water overflowed.

"It has been occurred since yesterday. Besides suction using a floating pump, personnel also closed the gutter to stop the overflowing river onto the road. Meanwhile, near the sluice gate, the water was sucked into the reservoir and is currently receding," he stated.
