Floodwaters caused by moderate and heavy rain have receded completely after inundating four locations in Malaka Jaya Urban Village, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, Monday (11/1), at around 2 PM.

Flooding occurs due to water channel failure

Malaka Jaya Urban Village Head, Hardi Ananda Angga Putra Perdana Hasbi said, those four locations were Jalan Nusa Indah Raya RW 01 and 13, Jalan Nusa Indah Raya RW 02, 03 and 04, Jalan RS Soekamto Raya, and Jalan Mawar Merah 3 and  4 RW 12.

"Flooding occurs due to water channel failure," he said.

To handle it, his party sent as many as 26 PPSU personnel to clean up garbage that clogs channels. However, after the rain stopped, the flood subsided.

"No residents evacuated today," he stated.
