Jakarta's Disabled Athletes Win More Medals at Peparnas XVI, Papua

Jakarta disabled athletes have won more medals at the National Paralympic Week XVI (Peparnas), Papua.

We win three more gold, two from para-swimming and one from para-table tennis

The total medals that Jakarta has collected until November 9 are 24 medals, with details of eight gold, six silver and ten bronze medals.

Jakarta Contingent Chef De Mission at Peparnas XVI, Tedy Cahyono said, Jakarta was now ranked seventh out of 34 provinces that participated in the Peparnas.

"We win three more gold, two from para-swimming and one from para-table tennis," he expressed, Wednesday (11/10).

He explained, the sports that will be competing today are para-badminton, boccia, para-chess, blind judo, para-athletic, para-swimming, wheelchair tennis, para-table tennis, para-shooting and para-archery.

"Today athletes from para-badminton, para-athletic, para-swimming, wheelchair tennis will face the final match. Some athletes will also compete from the preliminary to the final on the same day," he explained.

Despite there are a number of sports targeted for gold medals such as swimming and para-athletics, he said, other sports also have the opportunity to win gold.

"We are still optimistic that we will take home 25 gold medals at this year's Peparnas. We believe that all athletes will fight hard and give their best for Jakarta," he stated.
