According to him, achievements in PON XX are not as many as in PON XIX where women's team won gold medal.
"Pandemic has affected preparation of indoor hockey team. When West Java and other regions have conducted training camp, our athletes must train independently due to closure of sports facilities during PSBB and PPKM," he explained.
Besides, during implementation of PON XX, there was a decision that was quite sudden with age restriction, by requiring team to be filled with four players under 24 years old and free age for 6 other players. It made indoor hockey team to select team members once again within a short time.
"Previously there was no age restriction, including pre-PON. We receive this information in June, even previously the host asked for under 23 years," he stated.
In order to obtain more achievements in the future, Jakarta Government through Youth and Sports Agency was expected to facilitate athletes with adequate sports facilities and infrastructure.
"Currently, Jakarta indoor hockey team doesn't yet have building or field. Hopefully it can be realized in the near future, thus there are no more obstacles regarding training camp," he conveyed.
During their stay in Papua, Jakarta indoor hockey team also had the opportunity to meet Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan.
"I apologize for not being able to win gold medal. Even so, Mr. Anies still appreciates the achievements of our athletes with hope in the future it can improve even more," he closed.
