Quick Response and Action, Flood in Jakarta Subsided in Less Than 6 Hours

Heavy rains that showered most of Jakarta on Saturday (11/13), inundated several areas of East Jakarta and South Jakarta. Luckily, the water receded quickly in less than 6 hours, precisely at 11:59 PM.

Seeing the high rainfall, we will continue to be on standby to minimize the impact of flooding in the future

Based on Jakarta Regional Mitigation Agency (BPBD)'s data, most flooded areas in East Jakarta receded in about 2 hours, with 40-60 centimeters height, as seen in Cipinang Melayu, Makasar, and Kebon Pala urban villages.

As for flood points in Cililitan, Tengah, and Rambutan urban villages, subsided in about 3-4 hours.

Jakarta Prepares Personnel and Equipment for Floods

"Seeing the high rainfall, we will continue to be on standby to minimize the impact of flooding in the future," expressed Jakarta BPBD Acting Head, Sabdo Kurnianto, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

Based on Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency's data, the flooding in Mampang Prapatan Sub-district, precisely on Jalan Kemang Utara IX due to the overflow of the Kemang River could be handled and subsided within 2 hours.

"Certainly we also continuously monitor the development of flooding and the water level at the sluice gates. Despite the water level varied yesterday, no one has reached the alert or alert status 1," explained SDA Agency Head, Yusmada Faizal.
