30 Joint Personnel Deployed for Gerebek Lumpur Activity in Sunter Lama River

As many as 30 joint personnel from PPSU, Water Body Unit and residents participated in Gerebek Lumpur carried out in Sunter Lama River, Cipinang Melayu, Makasar, East Jakarta on Wednesday (11/24). Two medium excavators were deployed to accelerate the dredging work.

Gerebek Lumpur activity was started from RT 09/12 and RT 07/12 located not far from RW secretariat. Two heavy equipment were operated to dredge mud and water hyacinth on Sunter Lama River. While 30 joint personnel were also helped to dredge mud sedimentation from river.

Cipinang Melayu Urban Village Head, Aroyantoro conveyed, Gerebek Lumpur activity would be carried out in three days to anticipate flooding during rainy season. Currently, water discharge at the river is still low, about one meter deep.

"Gerebek Lumpur is focused on RW 12 and 10 because lot of mud sedimentation and water hyacinth found in there. By cleaning the river, we hope it can be optimal in preventing inundation during rainy season," he said.

Initially, Gerebek Lumpur activity was carried out at RT 09/12 and RT 07/12. Tomorrow, it will be carried out in RT 01/10 and 07/10. Two heavy equipment used in this activity belonged to PT. WIKA, the contractor of PT. Kereta Api Jakarta - Bandung. There were also two floating boats belonging to Water Body Unit.

"The dredged mud will be disposed to vacant land near KIC project. While water hyacinth will be disposed to the nearest TPS using two pickup trucks belonging to Water Body Unit," he explained.
