Anticipating Floods, UPT Alkal Prepares 203 Heavy Equipment

The Technical Service Unit for Jakarta Water Resources (UPT Alkal SDA) has begun preparing for floods by readying 203 heavy equipment to secure flood-prone areas in the capital.

"Those heavy equipment deployed for dredging reservoirs, embung (artificial lake), rivers and conn ecting channels (Phb)," expressed Jakarta UPT Alkal SDA Head, Yoserizal on Thursday (12/9).

He explained, they consisted of 28 units of large amphibious, one unit of medium amphibious, 17 units of small amphibious, 18 units of mini amphibious, 40 units of long-arm excavator, 25 units of standard excavator, and two units of small excavators.

There were also 24 mini excavators, 10 small wheel excavators, 16 mini excavators, one spider excavator, four dredgers, two shovel loaders, two compactors, one crane, one tower crane, and one forklift.

Then 135 mobile pumps, with details of 24 Indo mobile pumps, 20 Atlas Copco mobile pumps, 65 floating pumps and 26 tohatsu portable pumps.

Not only that, around 403 dump trucks were also alerted varying capacities, starting from 22 M3, 13 M3, 8 M3 and 5 M3. These trucks would transport mud from dredging channels in five city areas.
