Jakarta Government Receives KPPU Award 2021

Jakarta Government received an award from Commission for the Supervision of Business Competition (KPPU) Award 2021.

It shows that regulations or business competition institutions will develop quite significantly in 2021

This award was symbolically received by Jakarta Vice Governor, Ahmad Riza Patria (Ariza) who was present to represent Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan at Pullman Hotel, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/14). This program is a part of Business Competition Dissemination and Partnership Supervision activity.

"Thanks to Vice President, Mr. Ma'ruf Amin who handed over this award directly and also thanks to KPPU. It is an honor for Jakarta Government to receive KPPU Award 2021. For us, KPPU Award is a form of appreciation to all Jakarta Government officials in the field of business competition and implementation of MSME partnerships," said Ariza, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Thursday (12/16).

He mentioned that the award encourages Jakarta Government to continue to coordinate and harmonize the existing policies, especially in principles of fair business competition in economic policies taken, as well as to develop MSMEs that can benefit the community.

"I believe that Competition Index assessment which carried out by Center for Economics and Development Studies, Padjadjaran University (CEDS UNPAD) and KPPU has gone through 7 dimensions, namely structure, behavior, performance, demand, supply, institutional, and regulation," he explained.

Furthermore, he also expressed his gratitude for survey results which showed increas in Competition Index of Indonesian Business (4.65 to 4.81) in this year.

"It shows that regulations or business competition institutions will develop quite significantly in 2021. This fact is positive news for Indonesia's economic development, especially during post-COVID-19 economic recovery period," he stated.

In addition, he also emphasized that Jakarta Government will continue to pay attention to improving MSMEs. One of them is by issuing Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No.102/2019 which was later refined by Pergub No. 2/2020 on Implementation of Integrated Entrepreneurship Development (Jakpreneur program).

"As of December 7, 2021, Jakpreneurs members reach 287,703 which exceeding the target of 200,000 members. All of them have been practicing the principle of fair competition. The principle fo fairness means competition between market players in carrying out economic activities based on honest/not against the law/doesn't hinder business competition.

"Once again, we, Jakarta Government fully support the actualization of fair business competition for all entrepreneurs. The principle adopted provides opportunities for small ones to become big ones without reducing the big ones," he asserted.
