Channel Normalization on Jalan Teuku Umar is Completed

Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency had completed channel normalization on Jalan Teuku Umar RT 10/05, Menteng Urban Village, Menteng Sub-district. After normalization, it is hoped there will be no inundation in the surrounding area, especially during heavy rain.

Normalization is conducted along 81 meters to follow up resident's request

Central Jakarta SDA Sub-agency's Maintenance Section Head, Achmad Daeroby mentioned, before normalization, the channel was damaged at several points due to channel construction that was still using precast concrete with diameter 50 centimeters.

"Normalization is conducted along 81 meters to follow up resident's request. The work started on December 26, 2021 and completed on January 12, 2021," he explained, Thursday (1/13).

According to him, channel was normalized from Teuku Umar Police Post to Gondangdia Park Roundabout. The work was carried out by dismantling old channel and replacing it with U-ditch measuring 80x80x120 centimeters with depth up to 100 centimeters.

Besides, he continued, his side also made manholes in 11 points or every 3 meters to make it easier for his side to clean and check the channel.

"We deploy 24 Menteng Sub-district SDA Unit personnel to normalize it. Hopefully with channel normalization, inundation could be prevented, especially during heavy rain," he stated.
