RT 16 Karang Anyar Alleys Beautified with Lanterns to Enliven Imlek

Enlivening the Lunar New Year (Imlek) 2022 which falls on February 1, Residents of Gang VIII and IX in RT 016/06, Karang Anyar, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta are seen decorating their alleys with red lanterns.

Ibrahim, Chairman of RT 016/06 conveyed this activity has been carried out every year since 2011. Thus far, 100 lanterns with a diameter of 40 centimeters are being installed in two alleys in the neighborhood.
According to him, local residents are not only decorating their neighborhood only on Lunar New Year, but also on other religious holidays. Such as decorating the alleys with diamond-shaped (ketupat) lanterns on Eid al-Fitr.

After being used, he continued, those lanterns would be stored thus it can be installed again next year.
"We hope the pandemic will end soon thus religious days celebration can be more lively. Besides installing lanterns,
we can also visit our neighbors who celebrate it," he mentioned.
