Kerap Dirazia, Parkir Liar Tetap Menjamur

50 Vehicles Netted Every Day in Central Jakarta

The implementation of car tow and tire valve removal sanctions apparently still not make the motorists deterrent. Evidently, many cars and motorcycles are still parked haphazardly in some areas, particularly in Central Jakarta. Even so, local Transportation Sub-Department promised to hold raid against illegal parking vigorously.

Every day we hold raid and routinely patrol in illegal parking prone locations from 7 AM until 5 PM. Approximately 50 vehicles are netted every day

“Every day we hold raid and routinely patrol in illegal parking prone locations from 7 AM until 5 PM. Approximately 50 vehicles are netted every day. But since our tow car is limited, we only tow three vehicles per day, while others got their tire valves removed,” stated Head of Supervision and Control Section, Central Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Harlem Simajuntak, Friday (12/5).

According to him, most of the vehicles netted were usually those that parked on roadsides. As for the areas that are very prone to illegal parking, they are Jalan Diponegoro, Cikini Station, and Tanah Abang.

Illegal Parking, 133 Vehicles in Central jakarta Raided

Simanjuntak admitted that citizens’ awareness for orderly traffic is still low. Although no-parking signs have been installed, motorists are still parking their vehicles haphazardly.

“To create an orderly city, citizens must also be willing to participate. One of the ways is by obeying the rules by parking in provided locations,” he asserted.
