Dredging work on the 350-meter-long water channel on Jalan Kalibaru Timur III, precisely on the north side of RW 07 Bungur Urban Village, Senen, Central Jakarta is targeted to be complete on Saturday (2/26).

The work progress has touched 75 percent so far

According to Zulfahmi, Executing Unit Head of Senen Sub-district Water Resources (SDA), since February 17 until now, the workers have been dredging around 300 meters long of the channel. They managed to collect 13 cubic meters of mud.

"The work progress has touched 75 percent so far," he said, Thursday (2/24).

He explained the channel that has 60 centimeters wide and 80 centimeters high is dredged manually through 12 workers using hoes, buckets, crowbars, plastic sacks, and carts.

"The thickness of the mud has reached 20 centimeters. If it is not cleaned, it can reduce the capacity of the channel, thus it can trigger flooding," he concluded.
