Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan attended the Tawur Agung Kesanga Ceremony, to welcome Nyepi (Day of Silence), Saka New Year 1944 in 2022 at Aditya Jaya Temple, Rawamangun, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (3/2).

He appreciated the Hindus in Jakarta, especially those who are members of the Indonesian Hindu Religious Councils (PHDI) who have played a role in maintaining the atmosphere of shade and tranquility in the community, especially in welcoming this year's Nyepi celebration.

"Today I have the opportunity to attend the Tawur Agung Kesanga ceremony, and as a form of our respect for Hindus in Jakarta," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He hoped that the leaders of Hindus, especially in PHDI Jakarta, could be a bridge that strengthens relations between elements of society in Jakarta.

"This is because they play a role in various sectors, and we all feel their presence as a blessing for all of us. May this moment be our opportunity to purify ourselves, purify ourselves, and start a new chapter in this Saka new year," he added.

He then urged all Hindus to always maintain inter-religious harmony and contribute to the development of Jakarta city.

"We fully support the efforts of SDHD and PHDI to continuously strengthen their role in establishing brotherhood and kinship among religious believers while preserving the environment to realize sustainable development, especially in Jakarta," he explained.

SDHD Jakarta Chair, Made Sudarta thanked the Governor for taking the time to attend the Tawur Agung Kesanga celebration.
