Hopefully, we can see the development menu in Jakarta which might be explored in cooperation with South Korea

Apart from strengthening relations between South Korea and Indonesia, especially Seoul-Jakarta, they also discussed several potential cooperations.

"We are also friends with the leadership of the city of Seoul. When the pandemic broke out, Mr. Won-soon helped us by sending test kits from Seoul. We appreciate that we can discuss further in the future," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

Both of them also discussed the potential for cooperation between Jakarta and South Korea in various fields, starting from transportation, mobility electrification, provision of drinking water supply systems, and wastewater management, as well as the management of organic waste into fertilizer from markets under the auspices of Pasar Jaya.

"Hopefully, we can see the development menu in Jakarta which might be explored in cooperation with South Korea. Moreover, Jakarta has plans to improve public transportation, housing, water management, and mobility electrification. Many big projects are long-term in nature and we invite participation from various parties, including from South Korea," he explained.

"Regarding the MRT and LRT, we are very happy that the results of the study (from South Korea) will be out soon. As for the electrification of transportation, we are encouraging our buses (Transjakarta) to transform into electric buses, and collaborating with Pasar Jaya. If possible, it can be accelerated as it can be a model in the future," he continued.

He also hoped that the collaboration could also exchange experiences and knowledge transfer processes.

"Thus, our team in Indonesia in the long term will be able to follow the route from the South Korean side," he added.

Aside that, Mr. Tae-sung also appreciated Jakarta's steps to vaccinate foreigners from South Korea who mostly lives in the Greater Jakarta area.

"70 percent of South Koreans living in Indonesia live in the Greater Jakarta area. Appreciate it and thank you for being greatly assisted by the Jakarta administration to get vaccines for our citizens," he closed.
