Jakarta BPBS Head, Anggoro Dwitjahyono said the development of foreign tourists over the past three years was quite volatile. In 2019, tourist visits looked stable, then dropped from January to April 2020. It was due to the spread of the Covid-19 virus in various countries, including Indonesia, especially in Jakarta.

"Starting this year, foreign tourists visit to Jakarta are starting to creep up, even though it's only a slight increase," he added, Wednesday (2/2).

Cumulatively, he explained, the number of foreign tourist visits throughout 2019 increased from month to month. Then in 2020, the cumulative increase in foreign tourist visits to Jakarta was relatively slow.

In the last three years, the TPK in 2021 was generally higher than in 2020, except at the beginning of the year and the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in July and August 2021.

"Last year, the TPK started to show improvement even though it hasn't recovered like normal conditions in 2019," he added.

Based on the star hotel class, the TPK for five-star hotels was 61.3 percent in December 2021, or the highest compared to the TPK for other star hotel classes.

When compared to the previous month in 2021, the TPK for two to five-star hotels increased with the largest increase in four-star hotels from the TPK of 50.8 percent to 58.0 or an increase of 7.2 percent.

He added the proportion of foreign guests staying at star hotels in December 2021 was 3.7 percent or lower than November 2021 at 5.9 percent (m-to-m).

"Five-star hotels are the main choice for foreign tourists to stay as much as 52.4 percent. Meanwhile, Indonesian tourists prefer to stay at three-star hotels as much as 41.7 percent," he stated.
