Moderna-type Booster Vaccine is Available, People Urged to Increase Protection by Getting a Booster

The third dose (booster) vaccination continues to be intensified to fight against COVID-19 variants.

Booster is important to restore decreased body immunity and clinical protection

People who receive Moderna vaccines for their first and second vaccination can now get boosters in several locations in Jakarta by registering via the JAKI application.

Jakarta Health Agency Head Widyastuti explained her side used 1/2 dose of Moderna for booster.

"Booster is important to restore decreased body immunity and clinical protection, as well as to increase body's defense during the pandemic. Those who receive Moderna as their primary vaccines can only receive Moderna for booster vaccination. Therefore, people who haven't received booster for more than three months from the second dose are advised to update the information and register immediately via JAKI application," she explained, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Monday (3/14).

The following is a list of hospitals and public places that provide booster vaccinations for people who receive Moderna as the first and second doses:

1. RSKD Duren Sawit

Every day at 08.00 - 13.00 (for 200 people/day via JAKI)

2. RSUD Tarakan

Every day at 08.00 - 13.00 (for 200 people/day via JAKI)

3. RS St. Carolus Salemba

Monday-Friday on March 21-25, 2022 (for 1,100 people/day via JAKI)

4. Kota Kasablanka Mall

Monday-Friday on March 28 - April 1, 2022 (for 1,100 people/day via JAKI)

It should be noted that booster vaccines have many benefits, including maintaining long-term public health, strengthening health due to a tendency to decrease the number of antibodies three months after vaccination, preventing death and symptoms severity when exposed to COVID-19, and fulfilling the right to access vaccines to protect themselves and the community.

COVID-19 booster shot can be the same (homologous vaccination) or different from the primary vaccine (heterologous vaccination).

It can be carried out after the recipient has been fully vaccinated at least 3 months in advance. For COVID-19 survivors with mild/moderate symptoms, it is given 1 month after recovery.

For COVID-19 survivors with severe symptoms, the booster is given 3 months after recovery. Further information regarding booster vaccination can be accessed via the JAKI application, Jakarta Health Agency's social media, and other social media belonging to the Jakarta Government.
