Central Jakarta Socializes Waste Management at RPTRA Kejora

The Central Jakarta Government socialized Governor's Regulation (Pergub) No. 77/2020 on Waste Management at RW Level at RPTRA Kejora, North Petojo Urban Village, Gambir, Tuesday (3/22).

We will continue to socialize people and carry out evaluation every three months

Central Jakarta City Planning and Environment (PKLH) Section Head Martua Sitorus conveyed that socialization was carried out to increase public awareness about the importance of sorting waste from its source.

He mentioned waste sorting houses located in each urban village in Central Jakarta only reached 8 percent. To reach 50 percent as stated in Pergub No. 77/2020, his side would be more massive in socializing it to residents in each RWs.

"We will continue to socialize people and carry out evaluation every three months," he added.

His side promoted waste sorting at RW level with assistance from the Environment (LH) Sub-agency that provided the facilities needed.

He assessed there were many benefits in joining the waste sorting program, namely to create a clean and beautiful environment, reduce waste that will be transported to Bantargebang TPST, and develop a waste bank that could give economic value to residents.

"We hope this program can be carried out in every RW. It is not difficult as long as there is a will to do it," he asserted.
