South Jakarta and BPOM Intensify Integrated Food Safety Intervention Program

Seven urban villages, 25 schools, and one traditional market in South Jakarta are included in the integrated food safety program intervention 2020.

Food safety is a national and global issue

South Jakarta Assistant for Economic and Development Muhlisin informed the community-based integrated food security programs were Safe Food Villages, Snacks Consumed by School-Age Children (PJAS), and Safe Food Markets in 2022.

The activity was a series of national priority programs in Medium-Term National Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020–2024 which supported a national program to accelerate stunting prevention and reduction.

"The integrated food safety intervention program aims to inspire village communities, markets, and schools to be empowered, participate, be independent in fostering and monitoring food safety," he conveyed, Wednesday (3/23).

The seven urban villages in South Jakarta that were included in food safety intervention program 2022 consisted of Manggarai, Bangka, Pejaten Timur, Cipedak, Petukangan Utara, Menteng Atas, and Pancoran Urban Villages.

"We also targeted 25 schools, including of 9 elementary schools, 8 junior high schools, 8 senior high schools/vocational schools (SMA/SMK/MA) and a traditional market namely Lenteng Agung Market as the target of community-based safe food market intervention program," he explained.

He added that achievements of the integrated food safety intervention program 2021 in South Jakarta were six urban villages as Safe Food Villages, 3 Safe Food Markets from hazardous substances, and 139 schools as PJAS.

"About 23 schools in South Jakarta have also won the School Canteen Food Safety Star Charter (PBKPKS). Food safety is a national and global issue. Don't let students eat snacks carelessly, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic," he stated.
