Channel Dredging on Jalan Muhammad Ikhwan Ridwan Rais Completed

Dredging of the water channel on Jalan Muhammad Ikhwan Ridwan Rais, precisely the T-junction of Jalan Batu to Ciliwung River next to Arya Duta Hotel, Gambir, Central Jakarta, finally finished on Friday (4/1).

Gambir Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Executing Unit Head Imawan said the dredging started in early March was carried out for a month and managed to pick up 380 cubic meters of mud and garbage.

"We dispose of the mud to the PLTU Ancol using dump trucks," he explained, Sunday (4/3).

According to him, the average mud in the channel as long as 720 meters with 80 centimeters and 1.2 meters high was about 49 centimeters.

To dredge the mud, as many as 20 workers deployed to the location where they had to go into box culverts to haul the mud manually using hoes, crowbars, cangkrang, dustpans, and sacks.

"After this, hopefully, the channel can accommodate water in large quantities when it rains to anticipate flooding," he hoped.
