Four Teams will Be Competing in IYC 2021 at JIS Tomorrow

Four football teams will take part in the International Youth Championship (IYC) at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, which falls from April 13 to 19 2022.

This event is very special for me

This soccer tournament involving the world's biggest clubs aims to campaign for Indonesia's success in containing Covid-19.

Pancoran Soccer Field (PSF) Chairman Gede Widiade said IYC 2022 is a substitute for a similar event in 2021 which is planned to be held in Bali during the preliminary and final rounds in Jakarta.

"In Jakarta, we collaborate with the Jakarta administration in a series of JIS Soft Launching events," he expressed during a press conference at the Shangri-La Hotel, Tuesday (4/12).

He explained there would be four teams from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid U-18, Bali United U-18, and Indonesian All Star U-20. Following the theme, it was held to assist the Indonesian government in campaigning for the success of handling Covid-19.

"Hope the presence of the two big teams Barcelona and Atletico Madrid can open the eyes of the world that Indonesia is very safe as the government can handle Covid-19 well," he explained.

Promoter and former Real Madrid player Michel Salgado enthusiastically welcomed the IYC events held at JIS. He could not wait to see the splendor of this stadium which has a capacity of 82,000 spectators.

"This event is very special for me, as it was first held in Jakarta and in a big stadium which is beautiful to see and enjoy," he admitted.
