15 Integrated Parks to Be Built in 5 Municipalities Next Year

The amount of green open spaces (RTH) in the capital city is still very minimal due to only below 10 percent of total Jakarta’s area. To fulfill the target of 30 percent RTH, Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department will build 15 integrated parks in five municipalities next year.

The construction of 500 to 8,000 hectares integrated parks is not only to add city’s beauty and RTH numbers, but also as centers for citizens’ activities. This is because the parks will be equipped with integrated healthcare post and early childhood education (PAUD).

In South Jakarta, there will be three RTH built, namely 500-hectare wide interactive park in Jagakarsa Sub-District, Jangkrik Park as wide as 4,000 hectares, and a 2,500-hectare wide RTH on Jalan Gang Rukun RT 004/01.

In Central Jakarta, the programs to be done are building a 500-hectare wide interactive park on Jalan Kalibaru VI, Gang 14, RT 004/09, Utan Panjang, Kemayoran, rehabilitating Thunder Park as wide as 700 hectares in Tanah Abang, and rehabilitating Duri Park as wide as 1,000 hectares in Gambir.

In East Jakarta, two integrated parks will be built in Makasar Sub-District, precisely one 1,650-hectare wide RTH on Jalan Manunggal II Kodam Jaya Complex and a 5,095-hectare wide RTH at SETIA area. In addition, one integrated park as wide as 7,296 hectares will also be built on Jalan Kampung Pedaengan, Cakung Sub-District.

In North Jakarta, integrated parks will be built two in Koja Sub-District and one in Cilincing Sub-District. In Koja there will be Toar Park as wide as 2,900 hectares and Walang Park as wide as 2,380 hectares, while in Cilincing there will be Sena Park as wide as 7,600 hectares.

While in West Jakarta, an integrated park will be built in Kebon Jeruk Sub-District and two others in Kembangan Sub-District for as wide as 750 to 8,000 hectares.

“The construction of those integrated parks will be using the City Budget (APBD). We build the parks and facilities, while the posyandu and PAUD are managed by PKK (family welfare empowerment) cadres in each region,” stated Head of City Parks Division for Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department, Ratna Dyah, Wednesday (12/10).

According to Dyah, the construction of those 15 integrated parks is different to the construction of six integrated parks that will also be built by Jakarta PKK Driving Team (TP) next year through private companies’ CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs.

“The six parks to be built by PKK use CSR, while we use the APBD. It has been budgeted in the program next year,” she said.
