KPKP Agency: Strategic Food Stock in Jakarta Safe Ahead of Eid

The Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency has said strategic food stocks in Jakarta are safe for two weeks before Eid al-Fitr.

Those foods in question consist of rice, beef, chicken meat, chicken eggs, curly chilies, red cayenne pepper, garlic, shallots, sugar, and cooking oil.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head Suharini Eliawati said when compared to March 2022, there was a decrease in food prices for curly red chili commodities by 8.08 percent, red chili peppers by 21.50 percent, and red onions by 1.57 percent.

"Stable prices for rice and other commodities," she stated, Tuesday (4/19).

Therefore, residents can monitor food prices every day through the Info Pangan Jakarta (IPJ) or JAKI app. Info Pangan Jakarta provides information on daily food price developments for 37 commodities from 47 market locations.

"Or through the website at www.foodstation.id which informs the development of rice prices and stocks at the Cipinang Rice Main Market (PIBC)," she explained.

Until now, the Jakarta administration is still trying to maintain stability, availability, and food prices ahead of Eid al-Fitr. That is through the distribution of subsidized food such as five kilograms of rice, one kilogram of beef and chicken, 24 boxes of UHT milk, one kilogram of mackerel, and one kilogram of eggs amounting to Rp 126,000.

The administration is also working with PT PPI to distribute bulk oil following the Highest Retail Price (HET) of Rp 14,000 per liter and with BULOG Divre Jakarta Banten to provide frozen buffalo meat as an alternative to beef.

"We ensure food availability through optimizing BUMD in the food sector by collaborating between regions," she explained.

Other efforts were to optimize food distribution points managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya in five cities and one district, open food bazaar events in urban villages, sub-districts, and cities.

"We also work closely with the Polda Metro Jaya to supervise food distribution and law enforcement related to violations and also coordinate with the Central Government

about activities related to stock and price stability," she continued.

The following is the prognosis for the availability and strategic food needs for the two weeks leading up to Eid al-Fitr:

- Beef: 1,863 tons

- Chicken meat: 16,536 tons

- Chicken eggs: 17,987 tons

- Curly red chili: 2,134 tons

- Red cayenne pepper: 1,748 tons

- Garlic: 1,339 tons

- Shallots: 4,892 tons

- Sugar: 4,130 tons

- Cooking oil: 13,064 tons

B. Prognosis of strategic food availability:

- Rice: 75,933 tons

- Beef: 2,758 tons

- Chicken: 17,730 tons

- Chicken Eggs: 18,112 tons

- Red Cayenne Pepper: 1,843 tons

- Crimson Red Chili: 2,197 tons

- Shallots: 5,002 tons

- Garlic: 1,528 tons

- Sugar: 5 773 tons

- Cooking Oil: 13,538 tons
