197 Delman Coachmen in Jakarta Receive Food Assistance

Around 197 coachmen (drivers) of Delman (horse-drawn buggies) in Jakarta have received assistance with food packages and horse feed from Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency, Baznas Bazis, and Animal Aid Network (JAAN).

The agency also collaborated with the Association of Indonesian Horse Veterinarians (ADHKI) and animal lovers to provide animal health services as well as education and animal welfare which will take place from April 25 to 27, 2022.

KPKP Agency Head Suharini Eliawati said it was part of the Gebyar Ramadan Bakti in Jakarta.

"We are collaborating to provide food packages for Delman coachmen and feed for their horses at special prices from PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya," she expressed, at the Animal and Livestock Health Service Center, Ragunan, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, Monday (4/25).

She explained the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the income of Delman coachmen in Jakarta. Their income had a significant impact on the health and well-being of the Delman horses.

This social action aims to lighten their burden in meeting their needs during Ramadan. Hopefully, this assistance support could be maximized as best as possible according to its designation.

All this time, her agency has also routinely carried out health service programs for Delman horses in the form of providing vitamins and deworming medicine, medical services as well as feeding assistance, and training on horseshoe installation.

"My hope is the welfare of the horse itself can be an important point for the owners to pay attention to," she hoped.

As for the information, the Gebyar Ramadan Bakti was held by assisting 197 Delman coachmen in West, South, East, and North Jakarta areas.

The food packages and horse feed given were symbolically received by 40 representatives of the Delman coachman.

The aid will be distributed to the following four locations:

1. Kampung Rawa Badung, RT 11/01, Jatinegara, Cakung, East Jakarta

2. Kolong Tol Exit Plumpang RT 10/06,  Sungai Bambu, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta

3. Lapangan Bola Pinggir Rawa, RW 04, Pegadungan dan BPP Kembangan, West Jakarta

4. Jalan Palem VIII RW 08, Gang Kubur, Petukangan Utara, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta
