Six Tips to Stay Safe during Eid Homecoming

The end of Ramadan is drawing near and Indonesians are getting even busier preparing for the massive exodus known as mudik. Even, the government urges the public to take Eid homecoming early by always implementing health protocols considering the peak of the homecoming flow is predicted to occur from April 28 to 30, 2022.

It is given to make your home safe from potential disasters like fire when going home for Eid

Through Jakarta BPBD, the Jakarta administration appeals to its residents to make sure the safety of the house when taking the several-day-long journey.

Jakarta BPBD Head Isnawa Adji shared tips for Jakartans who want to go home for Eid, namely Mudik PATEN, which is going home safely and quietly.

"It is given to make your home safe from potential disasters like fire when going home for Eid," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Thursday (4/28).

Six things must be paid attention to:

First, lock and door the windows of the house

Second, turn off your gas and stove and disconnect the LPG container also. Turn off your water faucets too

Third, unplug the cord and electrical equipment from the wall outlet, and make sure all power sources are safe from flammable objects

Fourth, empty and close water reservoirs to prevent nesting of sources of disease

Fifth, keep valuables in a safe place to avoid potential theft

Sixth, locking the doors and windows are prerequisites but don't forget to tell your trusted neighbors that you are leaving for several days. You may need their help

Besides providing safety tips, the administration also urges the public to take booster shots as it is one of the conditions that have been set to take Eid homecoming.

"We also invite all people to immediately take vaccination and booster shots that can be accessed via JAKI app thus they can go home safer and more comfortable," he added.

In celebration of Eid al-Fitr this time, the Jakarta Siaga 112 emergency service continues to operate for 24 hours and is ready to serve the community if they experience or encounter an emergency that requires help.
