At first, he continued, this city smart management was going to be handed out to Jakarta Transportation Department to create a system that can inform traffic congestion points and the presence of officers in the field. But because the price asked was too high, reaching Rp 5 trillion, the plan was canceled.
“When I was new in Jakarta, Transportation Department said they could make the system with a budget of Rp 5 trillion. Then, I asked when the project would complete, they said around 4-5 years. So I said forget the plan, it was only a waste of time and budget,” Ahok uttered.
Meanwhile, Head Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Public Relations Department, Agus Bambang Setiowidodo, explained that at this time there are 300 CCTVs connected with smart city application.
“1,500 CCTVs have been installed, but only 300 units integrated for now. In January next year we’ll add 500 more CCTVs to be connected. Everything is being prepared now to develop this application,” he stated.
To complete this application, it is also integrated with Google Maps and Google Waze. Thus, the data received could be more accurate, because the reports from the citizens will be directly followed up by the officers located around the citizens’ locations.
