AKAP Buses Undergo Ramp Check Upon Arriving at Pulo Gebang Bus Terminal

The Ujung Menteng Motor Vehicle Testing Service Unit (UP PKB), East Jakarta conducted a ramp check on intercity interprovincial (AKAP) buses that arrived at Pulo Gebang Integrated Bus Terminal.

We routinely check all AKAP buses which have arrived at the terminal to create a sense of security and comfort for passengers and bus crews during the trip

Ramp check was conducted to ensure the AKAP buses were in prime condition or roadworthy before returning to transport the passengers.

Ujung Menteng UP PKB Supervisory Examiner Zulkifli said that the ramp check consisted of major and minor checks. His side checked the engine, tires, brakes, lights, and other technical parts of engine for major check.

Meanwhile the minor checks consisted of checking seat belts, passenger seats, toilets, shifting gears, and steering wheel.

"We routinely check all AKAP buses which have arrived at the terminal to create a sense of security and comfort for passengers and bus crews during the trip," he mentioned, Saturday (5/7).

He explained that if the bus failed the test, they would be advised not operate while waiting for the bus company (PO) to repair it. However, his side had not find any fatal findings on AKAP buses so far.

"We only found relatively small or minor problems and were immediately handled by the related PO. We appreciate POs that have been cooperative in complying with all regulations and provisions," he uttered.
