Jakarta Gears Up to Hold 2022 PPDB Online to Realize Equality in Education

The Jakarta administration is ready to implement the 2022 public school enrollment (PPDB) online which will be opened with more variations to establish equality of opportunity for all residents from all backgrounds.

Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik) Head Nahdiana explained that her agency had made various improvements in terms of regulations and technicalities, to facilitate students to get a quality education in Jakarta.

"This year, there are improvements made based on the evaluation of last year's implementation, namely in the achievement and zoning pathways, in which the percentile rating level on the achievement path is added thus the difference in percentile results can be more even. Besides that, the expansion of priority zone 2 is also done to accommodate students around the school," she explained, in Jakarta, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Tuesday (5/17).

East Jakarta Operates Two PPDB Service Posts

From a technical point of view, the account application process can be conducted throughout the registration process to parse system traffic. With these improvements, it is hoped that the 2022 PPDB Online process could run more effectively, while still prioritizing the principle of equality thus schools subsidized by the state provide more assistance to those most in need.

In line with the PPDB principles above, apart from the high school level, PPDB Bersama had also added to the Vocational High School (SMK) level to expand the scope of students who would be financed for their tuition and tuition fees for 3 years.

Collaborating with 260 private schools from SMA and SMK levels, PPDB Bersama was expected to ease the burden of school fees for students from poor families.

This policy was made based on Governor Regulation (Pergub)No. 21/2022 on Amendments to Pergub No. 32/2021 on Technical Instructions for Admission of New Students. It is also following the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 1/2021 on Admission of New Students to Kindergarten, Elementary School, Junior High School, Senior High School, and Vocational High School.

In more detail, as a technical reference in the implementation of 2022 PPDB, the Disdik had also issued the Jakarta Disdik Head's Decree No. e-0011/2022 on Process Flow of Implementing New Student Admissions for the 2022/2023 Academic Year.

Below is the PPDB selection path for the 2022/2023 academic year for elementary, junior high, high, and vocational levels:

1. Achievement Path: Giving appreciation to children who have shown academic and non-academic achievements

2. Affirmation Path: Providing greater opportunities for children from poor families to access quality education subsidized by the government

3. Zoning Route: Providing opportunities for children who live within the zoning area that has been determined with the principle of bringing the child's domicile closer to the school environment and paying attention to the distribution of schools, data on the distribution of prospective students' domiciles, and the capacity of the school's capacity

4. Transfer of duties for parents and children of teachers: Providing opportunities for children from families whose parents have changed jobs and for children of teachers who want to go to school where their parents work. In addition to PPDB at the elementary, junior high, high, and vocational levels, PPDB is also implemented for PAUD, Center for Community Learning Activities (PKBM), and Special Schools (SLB)
