Jakarta's Support for 33rd IPA World Congress Appreciated

IPA itself is an International Publishers Association that has 89 members from 73 countries and works to promote copyright, freedom of expression, and literacy around the world.

Even, in November 2021, the city was appointed as one of the Literacy Cities by the UN Agency and Unesco. This year, the capital city will host the 33rd World Congress.
International Publishers Association Vice President and also 33rd IPA World Congress Programming Committee Head Karine Pansa disclosed the congress aimed at bringing together different people or participants from around the world to discuss the key challenges of the publishing sector.
"It's very important to be able to learn from each other. We're very grateful to the Jakarta administration for its support for this year's congress," she expressed, Wednesday (5/18).
She explained the IPA World Congress was held every two years and the first time was in Paris. The upcoming congress would carry the theme of Reading Matters, Embracing The Future.
Talking about literacy and reading, she assessed it was very useful to nurture the pleasure of reading that exists in everyone. It was important to show that publishers were specifically looking for new experiences and goals.
“This is very important to us and this is the reason why we used this congress theme and added the word embracing the future," she explained.
She added that the congress would later invite the World Intellectual Property Organization General Director Daren Tang as one of the keynote speakers. There would also be various kinds of other interesting programs.
"We are very pleased to talk about copyright as a very important topic at this congress," she admitted.
