Jefri Appreciated for Breaking World Record for Playing Piano with Eyes Closed

The Jakarta Culture Agency appreciates Jefri Setiawan, a talented young pianist who played piano with closed eyes for breaking a world record at the World Record event held on May 18, 2022, at the Consulate General of Indonesia in Dubai, Villa No.1, Street No. 2A Al Mina Road, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

He played 170 songs in sequence very calmly and confidently even with his eyes closed

Jakarta Culture Agency Head Iwan Henry Wardhana mentioned that Jefri's success in breaking the international record has made Indonesia proud, as well as a historic moment for Indonesia in the Albert Schweiter Medal selection.

"He played 170 songs in sequence very calmly and confidently even with his eyes closed. Hopefully, his experience in participating in the event can inspire Indonesian youths to shine, especially in contemporary art in Jakarta," he said, in Kuningan Timur, South Jakarta, as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Thursday (5/19).

He managed to play 170 songs consecutively with his eyes closed for 6 hours.

The event which was organized by the Universal Records Forum and The British World Record UK has brought him to become a world record holder and has been designated as "Memorizing Songs In Sequence Order While Playing Piano Non-Stop Blindfolded For The Longest Time in The World".

Jefri, a talented young pianist hoped that his success in this international event could inspire and motivate the next generations to pursue passion and work hard to obtain achievements at the international level that make Indonesia proud.

"I am very happy and grateful for the support from Governor Anies, as well as those who have helped so far and made my dream to perform in Dubai and break the world record. To all my friends, keep on learning and working to achieve your goals and make Indonesia proud," he said, when confirmed in Dubai.
