Jakarta Targets Loksem and Lokbin Revitalization Exceeds RPJMD

The Jakarta Industry Trade Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency is targeting to revitalize 54 temporary locations (loksem) and six coached locations (lokbin) occupied by traders by the end of this year.

It is according to the target in the Jakarta Mid-term Regional Development Plan (RPJMD) for the 2017-2022 period.

PPKUM Agency Head Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo disclosed as many as 35 loksem and six lokbin in various areas of Jakarta had been revitalized. While the remaining seven loksem will be revitalized this year through the City Budget (APBD) and private companies' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

"From 2017 to 2021, 17 loksem had been revitalized through CSR. Hope we can do the same thing on 59 loksem this year," she expressed, Tuesday (5/24).

She explained that the development of integrated entrepreneurship is the key to lowering open unemployment. This revitalization effort is to facilitate the novice entrepreneurs and the development for entrepreneurs to advance to class.

"This can also inspire the business spirit of the assisted SMEs," she continued.

According to her, the revitalization is part of an effort to beautify the city so that it can invite visitors to come to loksem and lokbin. Additionally, the multiplier effect of revitalization not only supports the city's aesthetics but also has a positive influence on the economy of the MSME sector.

"If the location of business activities is rejuvenated, it will have an impact on increasing MSME productivity with many consumers coming," she stated.
