MRT Jakarta: Most Passengers Seen in May 2020 Amid Covid-19

PT MRT Jakarta recorded that number of passengers in May 2022 was the highest during the COVID-19 pandemic and Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM) since it was implemented in February 2020.

It has increased by 253 percent compared to the beginning of the third wave of COVID-19 in February 2022

They recorded that the average number of passengers in the same month touched 48,660 people a day with a total of more than 1,070,000 passengers who accessed the MRT.

PT MRT Jakarta President Director William P. Sabandar said the average number of passengers was calculated from May 1 to 22, 2022.

MRT Adjusts Train Operating Hours

"It has increased by 253 percent compared to the beginning of the third wave of COVID-19 in February 2022 with an average of 19,024 passengers," he said in a meeting with the Editor-in-Chief Forum at one of the five-star hotels in South Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/24).

According to him, the average number of passengers had fluctuated since the enactment of PPKM in early 2020. The lowest average number of passengers was recorded at 1,045 people a day in May 2020.

The average number of passengers in May 2022 varied with the lowest was on May 1 with 22,674 passengers and the highest on May 20 with 66,670 passengers.
