34,000 Budget Lines Eliminated in 2015 City Budget

Jakarta Provincial Government cuts the budget line in the 2015 City Budget.

There are about 30,000 to budget lines were cut

In 2015 city's budget priorities and preliminary thresholds (KUAPPAS), which is being discussed by the Jakarta City Council, there are only about 20,000 budget lines. The amount is reduced drastically compared to the previous year by 54,000 budget lines.

"There are about 34,000 budget lines were cut," said Andi Baso Mappapoleonro, Regional Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Head of Jakarta, Saturday (12/20).

This budget line cutting, he added, is in accordance with the instructions of Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama to conduct the budget efficiency. So the budget items  which proposed by the provincial working units (SKPD) were selected strictly.

Moreover, Mappapoleonro continued, many fictitious events founded from previous years. Moreover, the city budget already uses e-budgeting system starting next year.

Through this step, the city government is able to save 30 to 50 percent of 2015 city budget. The next year city budget is still prioritized for handling two major problems as city traffic jams and flood. Other programs are for the fulfillment of cheap housing for the people such as the construction of low-cost apartment (Rusunawa), Citizens One Stop Services (PTSP), as well as for education and health.

"The governor instructs us to prepare budget for the most important programs," he added.
