As an effort to minimize flood impacts, Jakarta Provincial Government has just finished building five pump houses in West Jakarta. Two of the pump houses were built using the city budget (APBD), while the other three were built using budget from Public Works Ministry. With these additional five pump houses, the total of pump houses in West Jakarta becomes 32.
Hopefully these five pump houses could flow rainwater to Cengkareng Drain River. So, the five locations would no longer be inundated when rain pours
Head of Maintenance Section for West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Amir Pangaribuan, said the two pump houses built using APBD are located at Bojong (Rawa Buaya Urban Village) and Apuran River (Kedaung Kaliangke Urban Village). As for the locations of remaining three pump houses are on Jalan Jelambar Selatan and Jalan Tubagus Angke as well as in Cengkareng Permunas (public housing).
“Hopefully these five pump houses could flow rainwater to Cengkareng Drain River. So, the five locations would no longer be inundated when rain pours,” he uttered, Wednesday (12/24).
Satpol PP Deploys Divers at Flood AreaAccording to Pangaribuan, another step done to anticipate flooding is by providing 13,000 sand sacks. 8,000 of them are spread to eight sub-districts, while 5,000 other sand sacks are put in West Post 2.
“We have prepared 1,000 sand sacks for each sub-district to anticipate puddles. It is conducted while we normalizing the rivers and reservoirs. At least, such effort could reduce water volume when rain comes,” he stated.
