BPBD Announces Coastal Flooding Warning to Happen from June 11 to 17, 2022

The Tanjung Priok Maritime BMKG has released an early warning about the potential coastal flooding from June 11 to 17, 2022.

People who live in the coastal areas of Jakarta are urged to be aware of sea level rise which has the potential to cause coastal flooding

During that period, the earth enters the full moon phase which coincides with perigee (the closest distance between the moon and the earth) which has the potential to cause a maximum sea level rise.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Head Isnawa Adji urged the public to be aware of the potential for coastal flood in coastal areas of Jakarta, precisely in Pademangan, Penjaringan, Sunda Kelapa Harbor, and Thousand Islands.

BPBD Monitors Four Areas Prone to Tidal Flooding

"People who live in the coastal areas of Jakarta are urged to be aware of sea level rise which has the potential to cause coastal flooding," he said, Saturday (6/11), as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.
