Djarot Held Blusukan to Flood Locations

Vice Jakarta Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat and his wife, Happy Farida did impromptu visits (blusukan) tp flood locations and refugee camps, Saturday (12/27). The first location visited is Kampung Pulo, Jatinegara, which is categorized as a flood-prone area.

On that occasion, Djarot was immediately monitoring the water level at Ciliwung River and visited refugee camps provided in the office of East Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department. In refugee camps, he seen talking with several officers of the quick Response team who were evacuating flood victims.

Former Blitar Mayor also took tiem to talk with refuges whose houses has been flooded since yesterday evening. Thus far, the number of flood victims is about 40 people dominated by women and children.

Djarot Did First Blusukan to Manggarai Sluice Gate

"What does this happen (flood) every year? How many meters?," questioned Djarot to a mother. Then the mother answered it. "Flood inundates one floor of my house, sir. My family then took a refuge. It always happens each year," she told.

He also gave aid in form of biscuits for children in refugee camps. Meanwhile, East Jakarta Mayor, HR Krisdianto who participated with Djarot, was instructed to hold a variety of activities for children in refugee camps.

"Mr. Krisdianto, I want you to hold activities, like playing, practice, or something to entertain children here," he instructed.

He also questioned the readiness of flats intended to relocate Kampung Pulo residents and its construction asked to be completed on target thus always the village will be free from flooding.

"We have to relocate the residents into the flat thus they can feel more calm and comfortable. They are our brothers also," he stressed.
