Jakarta Banggar Appreciates Betawi Figures as Street Names

The Jakarta Council Budget Committee (Banggar) for Legislative Council (DPRD) Vice Chairman Abdurrahman Suhaimi appreciated the Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan who had realized the Betawi figure as a street name.

According to Suhaimi, the legislature appreciated the determination of street names from the names of Betawi figures and scholars in Jakarta.
"This is a form of appreciation considering the Betawi figures have provided services and achievements in various fields including art and society," he expressed, Thursday (6/23).

"The Betawi figure who is immortalized as the name of the street has worked hard and contributed greatly to Jakarta," he explained.
He explained one of the names of Betawi figures used as street names was Haji Darip. Jalan Haji Darip replaced the name Jalan Bekasi Timur Raya.
"I think this naming is very happy for the families of Betawi figures," he explained.
"Therefore, we are ready to support the executive to propose the determination of the street name to be submitted as a regional regulation. But, the Gubernatorial Regulation as legal protection for determining street names is also strong enough," he added.
As for the information, on Monday (6/22) at Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village (PBB), the Governor symbolically inaugurated the naming of 22 streets in Jakarta with the names of Betawi figures.
It refers to the Governor's Decree number 565/2022 on the Determination of Street, Building, and Zone Names with the Names of Betawi and Jakarta Figures.
