1,500 Janitors and Street Sweepers Prepared for New Year's Eve

Jakarta Dept. of Cleanliness prepares 21 automatic sweeper cars and 1,150 janitors for Jakarta Night Festival on New Year's Eve. It is predicted that the trash volume will rise after the new year celebration.

Saptastri Ediningtyas, Head Jakarta Dept. of Cleanliness, said the janitors will be spread at some points along Bundaran HI and Monas.

61,780 Thousands People Flocked to Ancol

Those 1,150 personnel are consist of 205 personnel from Central Jakarta Sub-dept. of Cleanliness, 245 from North Jakarta, 250 from West Jakarta, 150 from South Jakarta, 250 from East Jakarta Sub-dept. of Cleanliness and 50 personnel from Cleanliness Handling Board.

The facilities prepared by Cleanliness Department are 11 garbage trucks, 22 motorcycle carts, 6 units of cross pick up, 14 mobile toilet, 5 clean water trucks, 2 raw water trucks, 6 automatic sweeper cars with 5,000 liter capacity and 15 cars with 2,500 liter capacity.

The street sweeper is able to sweep trash along 15 km length of roads per hour. The equipment is also equipped with vacuum to suck trash on the drains and the high pressure pump to clear roads and sidewalks.

"In addition to sweep the trash, this equipment is also able to clear the mine spikes that normally stocked by irresponsible people on the road," she explained.
