After performing the Idul Adha mass prayers at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and visiting the Dharma Jaya Slaughterhouse, Jakarta Governor Anies then conducted a qurban (sacrificial) by slaughtering a cow at the Babul Khoirot Musala near his residence in Lebak Bulus, Cilandak, South Jakarta, Sunday (7/10) afternoon.
I do this the same as my father did to me as a tradition or culture
"Alhamdulillah, after praying I went to the slaughterhouse in Cakung and returned home with my family to eat Eid food. Afterward, the family came and gathered, as well as continued with slaughtering the cows at the Babul Khoirot Musala. There were 9 cows and 20 goats," he expressed, after slaugthering Qurbani animals, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.
At that time, he remembered his father's teaching on how to slaughter the Qurbani animal. Of course, it was an experience to remember and consistently do.
Idul Adha Mass Prayers at JIS Run Smoothly"My father usually slaughters goats, not cows. Something that became a unique experience for all of us at that time. And now that we're adults, we execute it. Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly, InsyaAllah, today it can be finished and distributed to the needy," he furthered.
Even, he invited his children to see the qurban worship procession firsthand to teach them about the essence of qurban worship.
"I do this the same as my father did to me as a tradition or culture. It is a process starting from teaching, then getting used to it so it becomes a habit," he added.
He then hoped that the tradition of qurban worship from his extended family could be continued by his children and grandchildren later. To maintain a tradition, it requires a process of habituation.
"So later, when they are adults they will get used to coming, being directly involved, even like I experienced it. Indeed, I wasn't used to it before, maybe today it's awkward too. But, Alhamdulillah, with the habituation process, we feel the benefits," he closed.
