This deposit system removal is in accordance with the Jakarta Governor instruction, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. This policy is expected to reduce the traffic congestion in Jakarta because there will be no public transport waiting the passenger carelessly. Later, all drivers will receive a salary every month.

"Deposit system will start to be eliminated in 2016. So we prepare for trial this year," Emanuel Kristanto said, Head of Land Transportation of Jakarta Transportation Department, Thursday (1/8).

Car Owners Must Use Public Transport, Ahok Says

He continued, his side is looking for perfect trajectory to be tested. The priority is for the trajectory which have route being or leading to the downtown.

"For example, the route from Kampung Melayu to Jakarta Kota," Kristanto added.

Some things that will be assessed to determine the route which is used as a "pilot project" of deposit system elimination are services, management models, and range. These surveys will be conducted in three months. Once it has been determined, the public transport in the area will be used as the test of deposit system elimination, the fleets of buses that operate on those lines should be rejuvenated.

"So we will engage the public transport business owner. Since the deposit system elimination is aimed to improve the service, it must be done thoroughly. Not only the payments are removed, but the bus must also be replaced," continued Kristanto.

If the deposit system is removed, then all city buses will be under the management of PT TransJakarta with per kilometer payment system. The driver will be recruited by PT TransJakarta and will be paid monthly.
