Jakarta: 732,309 Vehicles Undergo Emissions Test

The Jakarta Environment Agency (LH) has noted that as many as 732,209 vehicles in Jakarta have undergone emissions tests from January 2021 to July 18, 2022.

Those vehicles consist of 673,275 cars and 59,034 motorcycles.
Environmental Pollution Prevention Division Head Tiyana said the number of vehicles undergoing emission tests increased along with the number of emission test workshops in Jakarta.

It involved around 1,067 technicians, consisting of 894 technicians for four-wheeled vehicles and 174 technicians for two-wheeled vehicles.
"We keep pushing various efforts and potentials that can encourage vehicle emission testing. That is by intensifying emission testing and technical workshops, free emission tests, and compliance testing activities on several roads in Jakarta," he said, Thursday (7/28).
According to him, it aims to create better vehicle emissions and raise awareness and foster a sense of responsibility among vehicle owners not to pollute the environment.
It was deemed to meet the emission quality standard threshold, while the expected output is to improve air quality in Jakarta.
As for the information, the Jakarta administration is finalizing the regulations and infrastructure to implement the provisions of the Emission Quality Standard to be used as the basis for imposing tax rates for individual passenger cars, motorcycles, freight cars, minivan cars, buses, and special vehicles.
This policy is stated in Jakarta Governor Regulation No. 66/2020 on Motor Vehicle Exhaust Emission Tests. It regulates parking disincentives and fines.
It is also part of the tightening of the emission test provisions for all private vehicles as stated in the Governor's Call No. 66/2019 on Air Quality Control.
He added that preparations were still being made by increasing the number of places and adding emission test kits thus the public could be served well.
