The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) opens BIAN Immunization and Covid-19 boosters posts in 31 locations every weekend throughout August 2022.

We want to eliminate rubella by 2023

Epidemiological and Immunization Surveillance Division Head Ngabila Salama said the 31 locations for immunization and booster services were focused on shopping malls, parks, green open spaces, and other public spaces.

She explained that it was conducted to accelerate the coverage of measles-rubella immunization for children aged 5 to 59 months and booster vaccination for people aged 18 and over.

48,904 Children in Jakarta Have Received Rubella Measles

"Hope the service can facilitate people who want to take Measles Rubella immunization and booster vaccines," she explained, Friday (8/12).

According to her, the government made a priority program to provide free vaccines as rubella measles is very dangerous for children's health. 34 provinces simultaneously carried out a measles-rubella immunization campaign in August 2022 to boost herd immunity for children.

"We want to eliminate rubella by 2023, thus it can be like Polio, which no longer exists in Indonesia," she added.

As for the information, rubella measles can also infect pregnant women and cause permanent disability or death in newborns who are infected from the womb.

Therefore, Dinkes invites parents to take part by bringing all toddlers aged 9 to 59 months to get rubella measles elimination regardless of their previous vaccine status.

"We are open 7x24 hours at the sub-district health center," she stated.
