Electric Bus Attracts City Government to Buy

Jakarta Provincial Government is now having interest of electric powered buses as an alternative for Transjakarta bus fleet. The buses will be purchased locally from PT Sarimas Ahmadi Pratama. However, the city government will test the bus first before order it.

But for now, do they can produce the bus massively at economical price?

"He (President Director of PT Sarimas Ahmadi Pratama, Dasep Ahmadi) said the bus components are still separated as a train. We've asked them to manage the bus to Director General of Land Transport. If it is done, and then put the bus in the e-catalog, we will buy electric bus from them," said Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama at City Hall, Thursday (1/15).

Basuki revealed, the bus which is claimed to transport up to 80 passengers will be tested first to make sure about the quality.

City Welcomes the Arrival of Two Electric Buses

"Just place mineral water gallons and run the bus on Transjakarta lane. So we can see its battery durability," Ahok added.

Basuki also will look the ability of the company to produce mass-electric bus fleet in order to meet the daily needs of Jakarta citizens.

"We are very interested. But for now, do they can produce the bus massively at economical price?," he stated.

Besides having intention to buy electric bus, the city government is also ready to assist the presence of an electric three-wheeler as long as it has a permit from the Director General of Land Transportation. In fact, his side is ready to provide plugs facilities in the urban village office for the three-wheeler to recharge.
