Legislator Dorong Pembangunan Rusunawa Tahun Mendatang

Commission D Encourages Jakarta Administration to Build More Flats

The Jakarta administration gets encouragement from Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD)'s Commission D to increase the construction of low-cost apartments (Rusunawa) in 2023.

This is done to help low-income people who do not yet have proper housing

It is in line with the integration of the program and the JAKHABITAT Residential Gallery to increase the quantity of providing quality affordable housing for residents.

DPRD Commission D Chairwoman Ida Mahmudah revealed that Rusunawa in Jakarta should be expanded, as there are still many Jakarta residents who need a place to stay.

"This is done to help low-income people who do not yet have proper housing," she expressed.

She went on to say that there was a need for massive socialization thus the Rusunawa could be benefited from many people, including collaboration with the central government such as Public Works and Spatial Planning Ministry (PUPR).

"If there is a Rusunawa project, we will add transportation facilities to the flat to make it easier for residents," she continued.

The same statement also came from Commission D Secretary Syarif. He uttered that Jakarta already has 70,000 flat units but the demand for housing has reached tenfold. That was why there should be a Rusunawa project.

Currently, Rusunawa offers a variety of advantages at affordable prices, starting from the physical quality of the building and environmental infrastructure of Rusunawa, as well as prioritizing the empowerment of its residents.

"We also have to calculate the amount of demand with the number of units needed thus it doesn't go to waste. My hope is Rusunawa can reduce the cost for low-income residents," she stated.
