PCV Immunization, Dinkes Encourages Parents to Enjoy Free Immunization Services

The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) holds a Pneumococcus Conjugated Vaccine (PCV) Immunization Kick-Off event at the Kembangan Sub-district Health Center, West Jakarta and Kramat Jati Sub-district Health Center, East Jakarta, Monday (9/12).

To realize 'Imunisasi Lengkap, Jakarta Sehat' program (Complete Immunization, Healthy Jakarta)

This event is part of the National Level PCV Immunization Kick-Off activity held by the Health Ministry at the Talang Jambe Health Center, South Sumatra, and carried out by all regional heads in each province.

Pneumonia is a major cause of infant and under-five mortality in Indonesia. The government is committed to reducing infant and under-five mortality and preventing stunting caused by pneumonia through the provision of Pneumococcus Conjugated Vaccine (PCV) immunization in the national immunization program.

BIAN Program in Kampung Bali Reaches 100 Percent Target

The introduction of PCV immunization in Indonesia began with the implementation of the PCV Immunization Demonstration Program in 2017-2019 in West Nusa Tenggara and Bangka Belitung. The results of the demonstration program showed that PCV immunization was well received by the community and there were no serious AEFI reports from PCV immunization.

In his speech representing Jakarta Governor, Jakarta Dinkes Head Widyastuti revealed that amid the pandemic, the Jakarta administration keeps routine immunization coverage high and even.

"Apart from routine immunizations, the administration also implements the National Child Immunization Month, with coverage as of September 11, 2022, reaching 97.05% for measles-rubella immunization. To realize 'Imuninasi Lengkap, Jakarta Sehat' program (Complete Immunization, Healthy Jakarta), the target for the free government program PCV vaccination is those who are 2 months old and born on June 13, 2022, or younger," she expressed, as quoted from the Jakarta PPID's press release.

She went on to say that in 2022, the estimated target for the introduction of PCV immunization in Jakarta was 56,417 babies. Until noon, as many as 302 children had received free PCV immunization all over Jakarta.

"Immunization can be executed at Posyandu (integrated health services post), Health Center, Government Hospital, Private Hospital, clinic, doctors' independent practice, midwives' independent practice, and other health care facilities providing immunization services.

Thereby, she invited the parents to enjoy this immunization service thus children are protected from Extraordinary Events (KLB) or outbreaks of Diseases That Can Be Prevented By Immunization (PD3I), such as Polio, Measles, Diphtheria, and Pneumonia which spread very quickly.

As for the information, this immunization kick-off event was also attended by professional organizations, cross OPD, TP PKK which can mobilize 76,314 cadres of Dasawisma, as well as the national army and police who are ready to make complete routine immunizations successful, especially PCV immunization.
