Acting Governor Heru Monitors Progress of River Capacity Building in Pasar Baru

To anticipate the extreme rainy season, Acting Jakarta Governor Heru Budi Hertono inspected the progress of river capacity building in Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta.

This location is part of the flood control infrastructure

At the location, he was accompanied by City Secretary, Marullah Matali; Development and Environment Assistant, Afan Adriansyah Idris, Water Resources (SDA) Agency Head, Yusmada Faizal; and Flood Management and Drainage Division Head, Ika Agustin Ningrum.

The inspection itself was aimed at ensuring that the flow of water from the Ciliwung Lama Sluice Gate in Manggarai when operated can be connected to the Pasar Baru River

"This location is part of the flood control infrastructure which is the water management system of the Ciliwung Lama Manggarai Sluice Gate Operation," the Acting Governor quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Wednesday (10/19).

He hoped that the project work could minimize the potential for inundation that occurs in Pasar Baru area and could be finished on time.

"When it is finished, I hope that residents can help by disposing trash in its proper place," he added.

As for the information, the current development is the work of strengthening the cliff along 1.3 kilometers on two sides of the river.

Then, the work on this project is targeted to be completed in December 2022. The budget for this work is also financed by the PEN (National Economic Recovery) budget. The work items apart from retaining walls are also the construction of channels and flood control pumps.
