13 Groups Enliven North Jakarta Keroncong Festival

As many as 13 groups enlivened the 2022 North Jakarta Keroncong Festival, which has been held from Tuesday (10/18) to Thursday (10/20) tomorrow at the Ibis Style Hotel, Tanjung Priok.

North Jakarta Culture Sub-agency Head, Rofiqoh said the Keroncong Festival is the first event in Jakarta. Apart from being a form of preservation and development, it is also for the development of Keroncong music, especially for the millennial generation

"In order not to always be considered conventional, every participant is free to rearrange Keroncong music thus millennials can enjoy it," he expressed, Wednesday (10/19).

He hoped that it could again excite the art of Keroncong among the young generation. With a touch of modern arrangements, it is not out of the grip of the Keroncong music genre.

He went on to say that the valuation of participants was divided into two, group and individual. Individual valuation is conducted on group personnel in the categories of best vocalist, best violinist, best flutist, best cellist, and best arranger.

2022 Keroncong Music Festival Committee Chairperson, Aep Tursaman explained that the 13 Keroncong bands participating in the festival would perform one of five mandatory songs and one choice song.

The judging results will produce five groups and the five best personnel for door prizes in the form of coaching money worth Rp 25 million for each best group and Rp 9 million for each best personnel.

"So, this concept is in the form of a festival, not a competition, so there is no winner ranking. Every participant is free to rearrange the Keroncong music that is performed," he said.
