Road Authority, Basuki Wants to Meet Public Works Ministry

Jakarta Provincial Government asks Public Works Ministry to give authority to improve some national roads that spreads in capital. This request is intended to accelerate the road improvement in Jakarta and prevent the causalities due to damaged road.

"We want to meet the General Directorate of Bina Marga for Public Works Ministry to discuss some of main damaged roads," said Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama at City Hall, Wednesday (1/28).

According to him, the road improvement project in the capital should be transparent. If the ministry's budget is not sufficient, he suggested to divert the budget for road improvement in other provinces.

"Let us improve the road in Jakarta. People thought that all road in Jakarta is our responsibility. In fact, it's not. But they get angry to us," he explained.

Basuki admitted, Jakarta Public Works Department was not handling the road improvement for 2 years ago. However, Basuki optimistic the 2013 main program of zero hole road in capital will be completed this year.
