Acting Governor Heru Receives Daun Nanas Batik Fabric from SMAN 81 Students

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, received the Daun Nanas (Pineapple Leaf) Batik Fabric cloth from six students of SMA Negeri 81 Jakarta at the Jakarta City Hall Building, Friday (10/28).

This is a great innovation

Those students are members of the Company of the Victorious Kartika Eka Paksi (Covarsi), a student company managed by 26 students of SMAN 81 Jakarta batch 2023. Covarsi sells the creations of fabric fibers that are recycled from pineapple leaf waste.

At that time, the Acting Governor appreciated innovation and creative ideas which were important steps in preparing students to become the next generation of leaders and decision makers.

“This is a great innovation. Hope it can reach the global market," he expressed, Friday (10/28).

As for the information, Covarsi aims to address the massive issue of pineapple leaf waste in the Cijoged Village area, Subang, while at the same time providing an economic impact by empowering local communities as craftsmen for their products.

The students of SMAN 81 Jakarta also had the opportunity to represent Indonesia at the Global Virtual Exchange event on November 16, 2022.
