East Jakarta Braces for Flooding as Peak of Rainy Season Approaches

We have been intensifying reservoir draining since last year

The East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is now well-prepared to face the peak of rainy season predicted by BMKG will occur from December 2022 to January 2023.

East Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Wawan Kurniawan stated that his party had taken several steps to minimize the occurrence of inundation, starting from providing heavy equipment, pumps, draining reservoirs, reservoirs, and connecting channels.

"Thus far, we have been intensifying reservoir draining since last year, including making embung (artificial lake) to control the flow of river water for minimizing inundation as much as possible," he said, Saturday (10/29).

This year, there are around nine reservoirs drained, including five connecting channels, ten rivers, four artificial lakes, and one long storage at Cilangkap Agro Tourism Park.

In terms of facilities and infrastructure, the Development and Drainage Elevation Division Head, Tengku Saugi Zikri explained that his party has 40 units of stationers in 20 locations. All of these pumps have 23,625 liters per second capacity.

“We also have 12 mobile pump trucks, 14 portable mobile pumps, 14 trailer mobile pumps, and 55 floating pumps," he closed.
