Satpol PP Clears Istiqlal Mosque Area from Street Vendors

Dozens of joint personnel under Sawah Besar Sub-district, Central Jakarta have begun to clear the area around the Istiqlal Mosque from street vendors (PKL). Those personnel consist of Satpol PP, Social Sub-agency, and Transportation Sub-agency assisted by the army/police.

We will intensify the same action

Sawah Besar Sub-district Satpol PP Head, Darwain Silitonga said that it was carried out to create a sense of safe and comfortable for residents when they visit or worship at the Istiqlal Mosque.

"From the mosque area, we have managed to demolish 30 illegal stalls and secure three people with social and community problems (PPKS)," he expressed, Monday (10/31).

Street Vendors in Istiqlal Mosque Area will Be Arranged Soon

He continued that personnel also confiscated stall facilities such as tables, benches, tents, and thermos belonging to street vendors and then brought them to the Satpol PP warehouse in Cakung.

"Then PPKS are brought to the Kedoya Social House to undergo coaching," he continued.

He added their presence so far has also disturbed the comfort of residents who want to enter the mosque.

"Therefore, we will intensify the same action to prevent illegal stalls at the entrance of the Istiqlal Mosque," he stated.
